Ferreteria Surcolombiana in Mocoa
Hardware stores in Colombia are interesting since they display all the most important brands of their products painted
on the facade. They give an insight into what construction materials are most common locally and how they influence
the building culture. Eternit, Sika and Holcim are often displayed as prominent brands to lure customers into the
stores. The fact that theese brands reached far into the south of colombia goes to show how global our construction
culture of today really is.
We were told by an engineer working on the local parc in Piamonte that most of the construction materials are
transported to the south all the way from Bogota. One could assume that the prices of these construction materials
also rise the further one gets from Bogota.
