El Salado - Sacred hot springs in volcanic lands

Rio Putumayo gushing down the Andes to the Amazon

Together with Manu and Lizeth we walked to “El Salado.” A thermal water source which is said to have it's origins in the volcanic nature of the local soils. The springs were located on a private property we had to cross in order to get there. Very recently there has been a landslide which has covered the salado as the parents of Manu once knew it. The water has healing properties. It is said that there once was a small hut for people to be able to use in order to heal themselves, the hut now lies under the landslide. From the thermal waters one could look at the Putumayo river which was gushing down the Andes towards the Amazon river basin.
